if i'm made up of molecules - Dalmatia - 6/3/2025

skill: ranger

The day spent by the river with her fiancé had been nice despite the reason they'd left the Vale. The newly engaged lovers had left for the search of runes and seeking out of Northfall to see how they fared, if the plague had affected them in any way that Dawnbreak could prevent from happening to their own. Thankfully, from what they could tell from their mountain and the view from the river, purple snow had yet to move, keeping its distance from the Vikings' reprieve. Soon enough, Dalmatia and Nóttin would scale the summits to reach the destination, but for now, they were allowed to rest and explore the river area.

Dal found herself trailing alongside the river, a main source of livelihood due to the far north's unfortunate spreading of noxious territories. Various cervine creatures trod in herds, huddling closer towards the west, not too worried about a lone wolf (who herself was cloaked in their own kind's pelt); she wondered if they even understood that she wasn't part of their own kind. Nonetheless, she stayed cautious, her ears on the swivel and eyes having constant trouble focusing on one area for too long.

Periwinkle eyes glittered, they were not only pivoting around to stay alert, but also for anything that stood out to her — anything at all that seemed "magical". In reality, it made her stop every so often, sniffing at an oddly shaped rock or scratched up tree that could be perceived as mystic writing... Maybe, if you turned your head and squinted properly at it. Which is what caught her up in the current moment, standing a few tail lengths away from a tall alpine tree, its bark scratched with marks — bear clawings or maybe supernatural? She couldn't tell. She turned her head sideways towards the right this time, wondering if, at this angle, she would be able to understand it.

it is assumed Nóttin is somewhere nearby

Jökull if you wish to join <3

Valkyrie and Jökull had left Northfall in search of greener pastures. The northern born mountain woman had liked the territory but the wolves within it were cold from what she could tell. Their leaving was not well met and Arvid seemed bitter with their exit, though he should have known better than to assume they would stay, they were wanderers brought in by a terrible winter storm and they never promised them anything.

Citrine eyes blinked slowly as she scanned around trying to find something worthwhile for today. She had left her lovers side to stretch her legs and found herself drawn to the river nearby. She trailed it's curves and waves on land as she smiled at the crisp scent of water in her nostrils. She stopped for a drink and bent herself down like a gargoyle as she unfurled her tongue to pull in the cool refreshing waters.

A sigh escaped her lips at the bite of freshness and she closed her eyes to take in the feelings such a simple thing could bring her on this day. A brisk breeze rolled through the evening as the sky turned various shades of colors that were so captivating she couldn't describe them.

She wasn't alone long, noticing another nearby, and she perked her body upwards to look upon the speckled woman who trotted towards her. Val held her tail high, a wave to her plume as she smiled and woofed a greeting to the other. It was nice to see another face.

The sun's rays whispered near the far horizon, warnings of its departure soon. The spotted dove wouldn't stray too far from the temporary den where she and Nóttin were staying — but just far enough to where she thought the voice may be guiding her... As she stared at the bark, she realized she may have been staring at someone else as well — beyond the tree, the river sat, and so did a woman. A large woman. Not rotund by any means. She was built with muscle and thick fur that protected her from more than she could, she assumed, seeing the small beginnings of scars.

There was a friendly woof and the raise the stranger's tail; Dal brightened a little. She'd rarely gone out of the Vale, due to her own self-reclusion, and the fear of going beyond what she knew. She was caught for a long time in an 'in-between' point until she met Nóttin. Who, now, had cared and uplifted her through the shadows of doubt that whipped around her. She felt brave enough to go out, even now, just on her own, knowing he wasn't that far. And now, here she was, nearing close to being face-to-face with a stranger — one who seemed friendly!

Dal chuffed back, her tone gentle, her tail raising with a waver to it. Hello there... She called out, wondering if she was out doing the same thing Dal was, Are you from around here? A question accompanied by the tilt of the spotted wolf's head.

Rune Discovery : 「 Failure 」

The sun sets over the river, and everything around you feels ... serene. Normal, even, despite what you have been experiencing.

It is a rune you seek, but instead it seems that there is new conversation to be had ... new alliances to be made. Perhaps you are too distracted by the presence of each other to focus on your search? Or perhaps you are just too far from a rune to gather the hints that you seek ... either way, the peace of the setting sun warms you, despite the chilling grasp of the mountains.

As you glance toward what is a very-normal-looking-tree, you think perhaps you see a strange pattern in the bark ... you think.

But nothing happens.

In the distance, the river bubbles.

And if you listen closely, you can imagine it ... An hire ...

You sigh: you definitely imagined it.

Perhaps if you work together ...?
