She could have been led anywhere, anywhere at all. So awash with grief, Fable was but a shell and greater purpose did not exist.

The scenery changed as she followed Amaranth obediently, the other's presence and guidance a balm to Fable's broken heart. She could not look at Archon without remembering their loss, but the golden wraith just before her appeared to offer her relief - whatever it was, it would surely be a departure from the cloying, all-consuming grief that filled her now.

She was drawn back to the moment when Amaranth spoke again, signifying they had reached their destination: her den.

Fable's ears angled forward, blinking into awareness as she peered into the den beyond. It smelled... not great but she found she did not care as she followed Amaranth within.

Her green eyes lingered on the bits and bobs of items around them, a pang of homesickness rising within her as she thought of her mother. Epona's own apothecary looked not unlike what she saw now, save for the refinement that came with the sophistication of humankind.

The Augur's voice pulled Fable's gaze to her and then to the items she displayed between them. Her haunches lowered into a sit as she studied them, each one an object of beauty in their own right. The chip of bone was a whisper of what once was, the flower a marvel of nature and all it had to offer; the feather spoke of necessary darkness - but it was the quartz and smoothed lake stone that reached for her.

She remembered that her mother so loved quartz - it was clean, healing. 'There's not much quartz can't purify,' she remembered her telling her. It glittered against the warm evening colors, but it didn't diminish them - it took what it was given and clarified, enhanced it.

The stone, on the other hand, seemed to almost offer... comfort. It was worn by time and the water it weathered, but it had been honed into something smoothly pleasant.

Th' quartz, Fable offered quietly, her gaze tracing between the last two items. An' th' stone.
